Description

Congressman Tae entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of North Korea in 1988 as a desk officer of the European Department. He served as the 3rd Secretary of North Korean Embassy in Denmark and 2nd Secretary of North Korean Embassy in Sweden from 1996 to 2000 and then worked as a section chief of European Union of European Department of MFA from 2000 to 2004 and served as the Counsellor of North Korean Embassy in London from 2004 to 2008. Congressman Tae worked as the deputy Director General of European Department of MFA of North Korea from 2008 to 2013 and then served as the Minister of the North Korean Embassy in London from 2013-2016. He defected to South Korea with his family in the summer of 2016. In 2020, he was elected to the 21st National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and has been serving as a member of the Foreign Affairs & Unification Committee of the National Assembly.
